Recreational Kayak Paddling the River Walk on the San Antonio River – Dave The Kayaker | Kayaking & Outdoor Adventures

An unexpected surprise on a business trip this morning.

I rented with: https://www.missionkayak.com and they were absolutely awesome. I also met Brad, a different outfitter, when I got here a half hour early and helped him unload his kayaks for his group. He’s a great guy and actually served as a guide on the water for his group. Check him out, too: https://www.airbnb.com/experiences/2874049

I obviously did not want a guide. I just wanted to rent a kayak and do my own thing.

What they don’t tell you is the address you go to, 100 E Guenther Street, is not a livery, it is the San Antonio Water Authority office. Fear not, wait on the street in front of the building and your guide will drive up in a van or a vehicle with a trailer with kayaks inside. If you get there early, you will swear you are in the wrong place until they show up.

A history of the River Walk. This man-made, urban, pedestrian canal concept was perfectly executed:

A perfectly executed concept. Well done, Robert H. H. Hugman
This is the gate featured in my video
